The Official Visit of The FEZ “Vitebsk” Delegation to Iran: New Cooperation Horizons
During February 22-27, 2025 the FEZ “Vitebsk” delegation led by Mikhail Skurat, Head of Administration, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as participated in the 3rd Specialized Exposition “EURASIA Expo” in Tehran. This massive event opened new vectors for the trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Belarus, which undoubtedly has strategic significance for both countries.
The Expo included a panel discussion of the trade and economic cooperation prospects of the two countries. During the discussion Mikhail Skurat held a presentation of the FEZ “Vitebsk” investment opportunities. The panel attendees discussed potential cooperation vectors as well as exchanged opinions regarding the mutual trade growth.
One of the most significant results of the visit was the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Maku Free Zone as well as a number of memoranda of understanding with Iranian businesses in the field of energy and petrochemistry. These documents can open new horizons for joint projects and contribute to the establishment of long-term partnerships between the countries.
A number of negotiations were held throughout the visit, during which the parties agreed to take a closer look at the opportunity to localize Iranian production on the FEZ “Vitebsk” territory. This will be to the benefit of the Iranian businesses as well as the Belarusian market by supplying each other and increasing the production capacities of both countries.
During the visit Mikhail Skurat also invited the special economic zones and the Chamber of Commerce of Iran as well as Iranian business circles to the EAEU Forum which is scheduled for August, 2025 in FEZ “Vitebsk”. The Forum will hold a dedicated panel session on the topic of cooperation with Iran, which will provide an excellent opportunity to further discuss and develop joint initiatives.
