H.E. Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus, Visited the Administration of FEZ “Vitebsk”

On September 27-28, 2021 H.E. Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus, visited Vitebsk and the Free Economic Zone. This was the first visit to the region of the new Head of the Indian diplomatic mission in our country.

The person accompanying the Ambassador in his 2-day visit was Mr. Priyanshu Jha, the International Informational Attorney of the Administration of the Free Economic Zone “Vitebsk” in the Asia and Middle East.

The visit began with the meeting on the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee premises, where Mr. Nikolay Sherstnev, the Governor of the Vitebsk Region, and Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha determined the main vectors for mutually beneficial cooperation between the Vitebsk Region and India in economic and cultural spheres.

While in the Administration of FEZ “Vitebsk”, the negotiations concerned various options of production cooperation and establishment of joint ventures. The Ambassador was offered detailed investment offers of production of metal working and medical equipment in order to implement these projects within FEZ “Vitebsk”. During the negotiations, Mikhail Skurat, Head of Administration, brought back the matter previously discussed with Indian businesses about the establishment of an Indian industrial cluster within FEZ “Vitebsk” in the near future.

They also discussed the possibility of expanding the trade between India and FEZ “Vitebsk” resident companies.

Export of goods by FEZ “Vitebsk” resident companies to India has increased threefold. The main goods being exported are glass fiber and linen fabrics. And from India, FEZ “Vitebsk” residents import chemicals for veterinary medicine and items made of ferrous metals.
